You are posting on an analog forum, not a digital forum. Now, if the channels were changed over from analog to digital, and they are probably not lying about this, you will need a digital box. And since you imply, that he was getting them, as they did not come out to disconnect them, and now he cannot get them, I would assume that it happened.
So if he looks at the channels, and they are white, and he hears static noise, then they are pure digital.
So you will have to find out the model of the digital box they are using, and then go to a digital forum, and ask there. And I can tell you right now, no one has cracked any digital box!!! Some have managed to turn on some channels, the ones that were in a box from a former subscriber, by playing with the code bytes in a storage chip, but beyond that, na da! Nothing!
Sorry for the bad news, but it is the same news that all digital people now know too....If he wants the channels, he will have to pay for them, or do without!
