Ok... perhaps I'm missing something or a bit confused by the similar but somewhat different technologies.

Does the smart card need access to the feed from the bird in the sky?

I guess it could work in an application server type mode, where the real card is in the stream and streams it's control words to one or more servers.

In that respect it makes it even easier to trace the source of the smart card and shut it down.

Seems to be a really easy target for an ecm.

It seems to be an expence not worth investing in.
I'll just wait for the stand alone file. It was a shame to hear about the owner of viewtech and two of his friend pleading guilty to charges of hacking one of there cards. I don't think this will stop them though. The FTA market has become to large to simply let die. But what do I know.

I was under the impression it just sent a line of code every 15 seconds to update the FTA via the internet (ISK that is).

Yeah, that's it. Does work, although why SV hasn't been able to maintain more than a limited number of channels is a mystery.
