Default What might be the cause of sudden onset joint/muscle pain and severe fatigue? - 3rd November 2009, 08:49 AM

Hi
I am 30 years old. I began to get terrible joint and muscle pain combined with severe fatigue about 2 months ago. They tested me for things like mono, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. The only test that came back positive was one that said I am severely anemic. I am going to start one of five iron sucrose IVs today. My hematologist tells me that joint pain isn't usually associated with anemia, though. I am grasping at straws, but think I might have Valley Fever, as I used to live in Arizona.* I recently had a baby in November, and then had a terrible time afterwards with severe hemorraghing. My joint pain is worst in the morning and when I sleep, and generally gets better as the day goes on. The fatigue, however, hits me in the evening. I am so frustrated. I am having a hard time playing with my baby when my husband is at work due to the joint pain. I am pretty tough (I did natural childbirth), but this is just crippling me and putting me in a terrible mental state. I am often confused, irritable and can't focus. Any thoughts are appreciated. Thanks!

where is your joint pain ? all your joints or specific area??. maybe you have a combination of a bad case postpartum depression and anemia. that can manifest in different ways. but low iron will cause most of same sort of problems.. my wife is going through the same right now.. but she feels grumpy, cold, sore joints. weak etc... she starts her iron infusions today and taking vitamin B complex to help with the absorption of iron.. but since you said you had hemorrhaging I am surprised your doctors did not start you on iron and vitamin B since child birth to boost your iron intake since your iron stores are now severely depleted..

all child birth is natural that would not have to much bearing just some requires some intervention ie c section.. but the amount of blood loss does contribute.. such as my wife again on the second child she needed a c section.. but afterwards the doctors put her on a high iron intake to counteract the iron loss due to the bleeding an injury caused by the c section.

curious that your joint pain is in the morning, usually one feels more refreshed after a good sleep. maybe you mattress is causing you problems and giving you a restless nights and or sciatic is flaring.. but then again you just had a baby you suffer joint pain for months afterwards according to my wife --- other thing you might want to to think about celiac disease ( glutten in your diet causes vitamin abortion problems - try reducing your bread and pasta intake and use rice base product and see if it helps)

hope this helps a little bit..

Do you live in a rural area? Is there a rash with this or a area that looks like a bite? You may want to be tested for a Deer tick bite, Lyme disease. It causes the symptoms you have.

Another thing you may want to have checked is the pressure points (triggers) for fibro. There is no special test that shows you have it, all they can do is test for everything else and rule those out. It seems to come on after a severe illness or childbirth that is difficult. My wife got it after a car wreck that caused her to get pancreatitis.

Hello, if it is a sudden onset then I would suspect either an insect bite, a vaccination shot, or something your eating. Even the new flu can cause joint pain and fatigue. Usually fatigue is a sign of infection-reaction and your body dealing with it. Have they done extensive blood work?
Good luck finding it, please keep us updated!

hello there, I myself suffer from chronic fatigue...it's very very hard for doc's to dignose...from what i've read, and trust me i've read and read...it come's lots from lyme desiese...but also from other things such as recent surgery as well....unfortunatly there isn't really any cure for it as of yet. everything seems draining, waking up feels like you haven't even slept !! no matter what your always tired. they say to excercise..which does help a little when you actually have enough engery to do a little..but kicks you in the ass and tirers you out even more...another thing i've found that contributes to this is the liver...try to a total liverr cleaning..no drinking, no drugs and take some natural pills to clense the liver...it might help, it might not...for me it didn't help...my doc is constantly doing so damn much bloodwork it's crazy !! sometimes it's dignosed as depression and things like that...but you yourself know if your deprerssed or not !! pacing helps a little bit...just keep pacing in your house from room to room..eventually you'll start doing a bit of cleaning in each room as you pass by them about a million times..lol...some doc's prescribe things like lorazapam (which is a downer)..your thinking why the hell do i need that right...but it helps a bit to calm your brain down, just because your body doesn't want to go don't mean your brain doesnt either...also sleeping pills ..which i refuse to take as they make me even more groogy in the morning then i already am...musle pain is also a part of the chronic fatigue...things like pain killers if your doc will prescrribe them to you will help....i find that the pain killers also do the opposite to me as most...for me they actually give me engerry and give me the availbily to have some engerry and do what needs to be done in the day instead of crashing..but on a side note you have the worry about getting addicted...my doc has done so damn much blood work to see what's going on it's crazy !! and there isn't rerally anything they can give you for it either.....which i dont understand...they have a million things to give you to calm you down and anit-deprerssents and valume and such but nothing really to give you the engery you need to carry on normal life !!!!!! just know that your not alone in you problems. many of us have it and struggle everyday to find someting to make it better...man i'vev tried all the natural pills, wake up's, caffine, you name it...and not to sound like a drug head...then best i've found has been pain killerrs.....which my doc hates giving me....lol figures..something works and they dont wanna give it to you.....well good luck and i hope this might have somewhat helped....

By any chance did you stop taking any kind of perscription medication?Or any drug for that matter. The symptoms you have seem to mirror some types of withdrawal.
Also your bowels can cause some really weird symptoms if you had troubles with them long enough.Good luck finding out what is wrong and I hope you get better soon!!

Hi,

I had a friend who suffered from chronic anemia and keeped taking medicine for it, later to discover she had leukemia. She recently passed away from the leukemia, didn't last 4 months after her discovery. Not to say you have the same thing, but I would have the doctor do an intensive test to be on the safe side. Hope you get better. Good luck and take care.
